Dental Assistant Resume Skills Checklist

Organize dental assistant resume skills into clear clinical-support, administrative and communication sections without overstating your experience.

Match the resume to the real job

Start with the job description and mark the duties, software, credentials and patient groups that appear most often. Include matching experience only when it is true. A focused resume is easier to scan than a long list of every dental term you know.

Separate skills you performed regularly, skills practiced under supervision and topics you only studied. This keeps the resume credible and gives you clearer examples to discuss during an interview.

Skills to review before writing

  • Chairside support and four-handed dentistry within your authorized role
  • Room preparation, turnover and approved infection-control workflow
  • Instrument identification, processing and sterilization documentation
  • Dental charting or imaging software you have actually used
  • Appointment scheduling, phone communication and patient coordination
  • Insurance, billing or records tasks you have performed
  • Team communication, prioritization and attention to detail
  • Current education, certifications and location-specific credentials

Turn duties into evidence

Use concise action statements that show context. Instead of listing organization as a standalone skill, describe how you prepared rooms, tracked lab cases or kept supply counts current. Add numbers only when you can explain and verify them.

Proofread dates, credential names and contact information carefully. Save a clean PDF unless the employer requests another format, and use a straightforward filename that includes your name and the role.
